PRLog -- Rainforest Automation has launched a program across the province that allows BC Hydro customers to see how much power they are using in real-time.
Instead of waiting until the end of the month to see their bill or even seeing how much power they used yesterday through the utility's website, users can take immediate action to reduce their energy usage and reduce their bill. Previous studies done in BC with real-time feedback have shown that customers on average reduce their energy usage by 9%.
As part of the program, BC Hydro is offering a $35 instant rebate on the products. This allows customers to purchase a device from Rainforest Automation at a significant discount. Not only is a discount being provided, but a special process has been created to ensure that customers have a plug-and-play experience.
"We are excited to have worked with our local utility, BC Hydro, to create a seamless process for BC residents," says Chris Tumpach, President of Rainforest Automation. "When users receive our products they automatically connect to their smart meter and start showing the home's power usage."
BC Hydro customers have the choice of either using the EMU-2™, a device with a built-in display that shows real-time and historical energy usage, or the EAGLE™, a gateway that streams that information to user's computers and mobile devices for an enhanced viewing experience.
