Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple to open at Strand TheatreBy: S'Tiare PR The production is currently embarking on a ten city tour in which the organization aims to promote the launching of their mobile food pantry this fall to help families in need across the United States. “We leverage events to help a community,” said Joyce Licorish, president of The Cupboard Inc. and also stars in the show as Sophia. The show will consist of a joyous score that includes jazz, gospel and many more sounds that will keep the crowd moving. The dance numbers are also very instrumental in the show as it helps to tell the background stories of Celie, Nettie, Shug and Mista throughout the show. “This is a great show. There are parts where you will cry, laugh out loud and even get mad. There is that comedy relief as well.” said Licorish who is known for her rendition of “Hell No!” in the show. National recording artist Deaon Forever also stars in the show as Albert “Mista” Johnson. “There is a lot of wonderful talent that surrounds me in this show.” said Forever.
