Cimino Gallery and Custom Picture Framing a stop on August 9 St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Aug. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Cimino Gallery and Custom Picture Framing is a destination in this month's St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk — Saturday, August 9. The theme is "shop local". Once again, Justen Cimino — along with other St. Pete art gallery, studio, and workshop owners — opens the doors of his space to welcome ArtWalkers as they view art, participate in demonstrations, and socialize. The hours at most participating establishments is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. — and in some cases later.

Along the route at diffferent venues, ArtWalkers will encounter music, refreshment, glass art, video installations, ceramics, handmade furniture, oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings, collage, and sculpture.

Over the years, the Second Saturday ArtWalk has grown to encompass a large swath of downtown St. Pete and other districts, including the Waterfront Arts District, Central Arts District, The EDGE District of St. Petersburg, Grand Central District Association, and the Warehouse Arts District. Cimino Gallery is the first venue in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Business District to participate in the event.

ArtWalkers can walk, drive, or ride the free trolley that loops through the Warehouse Arts Disctrict. Over thirty studios, warehouses, and galleries participate — some of which only open their doors for this monthly event.

The Central Avenue trolley costs $.50 and serves galleries on or near Central Avenue.

A good starting point for the ArtWalk is in the Grand Central District's roundabout at 10th Street and Central Avenue. Here, ArtWalkers can hop on a shuttle and venture into the Warehouse Arts District. Free parking is available at several locations. Keep Saint Petersburg Local, Art Association St. Petersburg, Warehouse Arts District Association, and St. Petersburg Art Alliance are coordinators of the monthly St. Petersburg Second Saturday Artwalks. Keep Saint Petersburg Local is sponsoring a raffle of art including a limited edition, signed and numbered print of artist BASK's Love Letter to St. Petersburg.
