AKiTiO Unveils 4K Video Thunderbolt™2 PCIe Expansion Box

The Akitio Thunder2 PCIe Box provides an additional PCIe slot for systems that do not support or have enough available space for expansion cards.  The external Thunderbolt2 connection allows users to daisy chain up to five additional Thunderbolt devices, making this the ideal plug-and-play companion, especially when traveling.  In addition, replacing the card is a simple matter of removing three hand-tightening screws, so no tools are required.

Equipped with Thunderbolt2 technology, the Thunder2 PCIe Box suppots DisplayPort 1.2, which allows for video streaming to a single 4K video monitor.  The PCIe slot accepts half-length, full-height, double-width cards and provides a maximum of 25 Watts of power. Possible applications include, but are not limited to, SAS/SATA RAID, Fiber channel HBA, 10G Ethernet, PCIe SSDs, Video Capture and Processing, Digital Audio Workstations, etc.
