| Action for Sick Children Names Val Jackson As Chief ExecutiveThe Former Senior Officer of the Children's Charity Is Chosen For Important New Role
The one-time marketing manager with Manchester’s Boddington’s Brewery, who went on to spend several years as the landlady of the town’s Waggon and Horses pub, first joined the charity as Personal Assistant to the chairman in 2012. She was promoted to senior officer earlier this year and was unanimously voted in as Chief Executive at the recent Action for Sick Children Board of Directors meeting. “I am absolutely delighted with the appointment and looking forward to working with the charity’s wonderful and dedicated team at our High Lane, Stockport HQ", said Val who lives in Bollington. “It really is an honour to be promoted to this position in a charity that has done so much for children and young people over the past 52 years. I will be following in the footsteps of some very committed people and am determined to do whatever is required to improve the lot of sick children, young people and their families across the country.” Perhaps most famous for its work to enable parents to stay overnight with their hospitalised children, Action for Sick Children continues to organise national children’s health surveys as well as offering help lines for the parents and carers of sick children. Action for Sick Children also runs the Dental Playbox campaign, a national initiative aimed at giving all children training in the health benefits of good dental care.
