June 30, 2014 - PRLog -- ATLANTA- The Awesome Foundation: Atlanta will be accepting August grant applications from July 1-20. Last month’s winner, Goodie Hack, was given a $1000 grant to help fund their Hackathon event hosted on June 21. The event brings technology buffs and non-buffs together for brainstorming and web/app development workshops. Their goal is to raise under-privileged communities’ basic need averages in terms of education, economic, health & wellness, safety and environmental issues worldwide up to their own countries’ national averages. Awesome Foundation proudly supported them not only financially but the chapter’s founder, Dr. Dionne Mahaffey, was also a judge at the event.

“We were so excited about winning the June grant that I joined the board and will now help choose winners each month as well as fund the award,” said Joey “Digital” Womack, co-founder of Goodie Hack.

“The ecosystem of Atlanta’s altruistic community is unmatched,” he concluded.

The winner will be announced prior to Awesome Atlanta’s monthly cocktail hour to be held at bar Eleven at the Loews Atlanta Hotel.  The winner and other purveyors of social-good are invited to attend the monthly gathering.

“We are excited about how the Awesome Foundation is progressing.  Collectively the 96 chapters in 21 countries around the world have donated over $1 million to projects that further awesomeness in our respective communities,” Dr. Mahaffey said.

Please be on the lookout for the application on our website www.awesomeatlanta.org.

About the Awesome Foundation:

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is an ever-growing, worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe. Created in the long hot summer days of 2009 in Boston, the Foundation distributes a series of monthly $1,000 grants to projects and their creators. The money is pooled together from the coffers of ten or so self-organizing “micro-trustees” and given upfront in cash, check, or gold doubloons.
