BioLogue STEM Program for Girls wins Awesome Atlanta’s first grant of the year!

Bridging the gender-gap in science and engineering related fields

Jan. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Awesome Atlanta has awarded their first grant of the year to the BioLogue S.T.E.M Program for Girls. This organization’s vision is to bridge the gender gap in science and engineering related fields. Their programs provide learners the opportunity to grasp science via inquiry based methodologies using an experiential learning approach that allows exploration using hands on experiments.

“I have been fortunate enough to view STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) content from two perspectives as an educator from the collegiate and K-12 levels,” said Gladys Delancey-Bolding, the Founding Director of Operations at BioLogue Program.

“Unfortunately, girls are not encouraged to pursue studies in STEM. Our STEM fair aims to provide girls access to compelling education through authentic STEM explorations,” she noted.

The Awesome Foundation will host their monthly Awesome Hour on Wednesday, January 21; 7:00 pm at Fork and Juniper located inside of the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown.

Mrs. Delancey-Boldingwill be recognized and given the $1,000 grant to continue her cause. Individuals and groups interested in applying for an Awesome Grant in the future are encouraged to come out and meet the group’s trustees.

To date, The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences has granted over one million dollars in grants worldwide through their network of chapters. Awesome Atlanta is overjoyed to be assisting local causes for the greater good of our community.

“Thanks to the Awesome foundation girls will have an opportunity to delve into a combination of authentic STEM explorations which include: Forensic Science, Chemistry of Cosmetics and Epidemiological Microbiology,” Delancey-Bolding concluded.

About the Awesome Foundation:

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is an ever-growing, worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe. Created in the long hot summer days of 2009 in Boston, the Foundation distributes a series of monthly $1,000 grants to projects and their creators. The money is pooled together from the coffers of ten or so self-organizing “micro-trustees” and given upfront in cash, check, or gold doubloons. The chapters are organized by a founder and trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. For more information please visit www.awesomefoundation.org - Follow us on Twitter and InstaGram @AwesomeAtlanta
