Kent State University to Host Young Business Scholars Summer Program
“The Young Business Scholar program provides high school seniors the opportunity to study the different areas of business, while experiencing college life and living on campus for the week,” said Nicole Kotlan, director of Undergraduate Programs Office.
The top 30 applicants to the Young Business Scholars Summer Program will experience college through their stay in residence halls, social activities, a series of business lectures and engage in a competition to develop a business plan.
Each day, students will explore different areas of business including accounting, business management, computer information systems, economics, entrepreneurship, finance and marketing, gaining hands-on experience in the classroom.
The cost to participate in the program is a $150 registration fee. All other expenses for the week including classes, food, lodging, chaperones and social activities will be fully funded by the College of Business Administration.
At the end of the week, the teams will present their final business plan to a panel of judges, and each member of the winning team will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend Kent State’s College of Business Administration.
“Students also experience college life in the evening during the week long program with chaperoned fun on and off campus. Activities include a trip to the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, a bowling competition and an evening to explore downtown Kent’s new retail area,” Kotlan said.
