BOULDER, Colo. - May 5, 2014 - PRLog -- A Call for Submissions has been issued by Author Diane DeBella of the University of Colorado, Boulder.

In April 2014, DeBella launched the #iamsubject project, and began the call for submissions for an anthology of women's stories about life-changing moments of self-recognition - of being subject of their own lives.

The project is an off-shoot of Diane DeBella's memoir, I Am Subject: Sharing Our Truths to Reclaim Our Selves, released November 2013 which conveys women’s experiences by weaving together memoir, literary texts and criticism, and student reflection. http://www.iamsubject.com

DeBella's book draws from the written experiences of her students, and those of noted women authors including:
Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797)
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806 - 1861)
Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815 - 1902)
Kate Chopin (1850 - 1904)
Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860 - 1935)
Adrienne Rich (1929 - 2012)
Nancy Mairs (b. 1943)
Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941)
Sylvia Plath (1932 - 1963)
Anne Sexton (1928 - 1974)
Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
Pam Houston (b. 1962)

The online magazine Women Writers, Women Books has teamed up with DeBella to promote the project and publish the book.

"I invite you to share your own #iamsubject story, a powerful moment when you reclaimed your self as subject of your own life," DeBella writes of the project that will result in an anthology on the Call for Submissions page of her website.

About the Memoir, I Am Subject

Reviewer Natalie Ziemba writes a succinct summary of the collective memoir by Diane DeBella:

"I Am Subject is part biography, part anthology, and mostly memoir… The range of experiences DeBella explores allows women to connect to her story in multiple ways. DeBella honestly and painfully demonstrates the multi-faceted lives of women by integrating all these different pieces and perspectives. The overall effect creates a story of admission rather than confession, which is humbling in its vulnerability and liberating in its truth."

The ebook is available on many sites, and on sale for $2.99 through May 31, 2014 on Amazon.http://www.amazon.com/dp/b00h0gu38g
