Follow on Google News | Student of the Year Embarks on Caring CareerCentral Coast Community College student Lisa Fosters’ life experience has inspired her to not only change careers, but to embark on a whole new learning journey.
“I became interested in a career as a nurse after I saw the amazing work they did with my mum, who was in and out of hospital for twelve months. “I was so inspired by nurses, and how they made my mum’s time in hospital a positive one, that I decided to change careers, and enrolled in a Certificate III in Aged Care course at the College. “Although being a massage therapist is a rewarding career, I wanted to take things a step further and help more people in the community. Being a nurse was one way I could do this”, Lisa said. Lisa successfully completed her Certificate III in Aged Care, and wanting to take her career a step further, applied for a scholarship to study Enrolled Nursing. “The Scholarship Board could see that I had my Certificate III in Aged Care, and this helped me gain my scholarship to further studies in the nursing field. I’ll complete my scholarship in June and I look forward to using my new skills to help community members”, Lisa said. The College is ready to welcome a new intake of students for the Certificate III in Aged Care. The course will run over two evenings per week commencing mid May.
