April 23, 2014 - PRLog -- The Jim’s Mowing Annual Conference was held in Glasgow earlier this year, where ‘Jim’s’ from across the UK got together to discuss, learn and enhance the service they offer.

Jim’s Mowing is the largest lawn mowing and garden maintenance franchise in the world. It was started in Melbourne, Australia, in 1982 by Jim Penman and has expanded rapidly ever since. The Jim’s Mowing franchise was launched in 1989 and now has over 2000 franchisees worldwide, servicing over 10,000 clients every day.

The 1 ½ day Annual Conference was a mixture of business and pleasure, social networking and education, as well as being motivational and inspirational.

Independent experts presented on improving sales, enhancing knowledge of fertilisers and timber products as well as introducing new equipment at prices exclusive to Jim's Mowing.

Guest speakers at the conference were Lisa Tobias and Jaco van Gass.  Lisa is one of the UK’s leading franchisees with seven Domino’s Pizza stores in Ayr, Irvine, Kilmarnock, Clydebank, Greenock, Johnstone and Govan. Lisa is one of the company's most successful UK female franchisees. She has gone from being a Scottish champion gymnast and part-time worker at Domino's to a highly successful, inspirational businesswoman. Lisa opened her fifth store when her daughter Naomi was only six weeks old.   Having first started working at Domino’s part time while she was at school, Lisa decided that university wasn’t for her and turned her job into a full time career. Lisa worked her way up through the ranks at Domino’s and became a store manager at 19 years old. A couple of years later, she won Domino’s Manager of the Year Award for the UK and Ireland. This inspired Lisa to really seize the opportunity with Domino’s and she bought her first store aged 23.  Delegates were also inspired by Jaco van Gass, an injured serviceman who has overcome adversity in truly remarkable fashion.   Having left the army after suffering severe injuries whilst serving in Afghanistan, he has completed several marathons, trekked to the North Pole, climbed Mount Manaslu and as part of “Walking with the Wounded” was only denied summitting Everest by adverse weather conditions.

Two Jim’s Mowing franchisees also shared their own particular expertise and experiences with their colleagues. The event ended with a 'G'Day' video from Jim’s Mowing colleagues in Australia which demonstrated their amazing support and back office infrastructure.

David Hughson, Jim’s Mowing UK Divisional Franchisor, explains: “We see the Annual Conference as a very important event for all the ‘Jim’s’ around the country. It is a great motivational and inspirational event where all the franchisees can meet up, discuss their experiences and learn from our expert speakers. Hopefully they then all go back to their territories refreshed and ready to kick on for the year ahead.”

There are currently 26 franchisees in the UK and there are territories available throughout the country.
