By: International Computer Concepts Marketing Director Colin Cronin says: "A common challenge that many businesses face as they grow is the need for greater resources: labor, expertise, physical assets, financial capital, and/or something else that adds value. Over the last year, International Computer Concepts has been consistently expanding to such a degree that we have always been pushing the upper limit of our capacity. To better meet the increasing demand for our services, at the beginning of 2014 we implemented a new HR initiative focused on sourcing local talent from a variety of different sources, including local colleges and technical schools." As a systems integrator, ICC focuses on developing enterprise grade IT systems and solutions for a wide range of different organizations. While the traditional server segment has always been a core part of their business, ICC has expanded its offerings in recent years to include solution specializations such as storage, virtualization, cloud, and others. As ICC grows their product and solutions line, Cronin believes that they needed to reach out to aspiring young professionals to tap into not only a local base, but also a younger, newer way of thinking. "The most recent outreach occurred back in February when we attended a job fair at Wilbur Wright College in Chicago, IL. The primary focus of our presence at this event was to supplement our production line with additional server technicians. During the event, over 20 people approached us with interest in learning more about our company and the position we were seeking to fill. From approximately 10 qualified sign-ups at the job fair we successfully vetted and hired a new server technician who came on board the following month and helped contribute to the completion of new projects for our customers." Wilbur Wright College is part of the City Colleges of Chicago system. It offers 2-year associate’s degrees in a variety of fields, including occupational training in information technology & manufacturing. Cronin also sees an advantage in having an active network of connections for those times when large projects come in through their facility. "...(B)uilding connections with a local pool of technical experts extends our ability to rapidly ramp up production temporarily for large-scale but short-term projects. We can quickly contract supplemental personnel as needed, with potential avenues to making them regular team members." ICC continues to make waves through the industry.
