US Publisher Releases Fundraiser Non-profit Children's Book for UK Child with Stage 4 Cancer

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Florida based award-winning children’s book publisher, Pants On Fire Press, is scheduled to release their first Non-profit book, Princess Stacey’s Magical Adventure, on April 11, 2014 to benefit Stacey Mowle. Stacey Mowle is a brave 7 year old from Gravesend Kent, England. Sadly, she is suffering with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a cancer that attacks her nervous system leaving Stacey in constant pain.

All profits from the sale of Princess Stacey’s Magical Adventure will be transferred to Stacey’s Charity, Registration No. 1135974, to raise funds to bring Stacey to the United States for lifesaving treatment.

“Cancer is a nasty problem. No one denies this, but why governments do not make the eradication of this disease their top priority, well, it boggles the mind. When author Judy Pierce approached me about Stacey here at Pants On Fire Press, well, I knew we had to do something. You too can help. This is a great opportunity for folks to step up and help out a little angel who is suffering and in need. If you do not want to spend the $10 on the book then why not give $5 to her charity? This isn’t about selling books. We sell books. This is about raising awareness and funds for Stacey, however possible,” said David Powers, Publisher.

Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in infancy with 100 UK cases per year. Neuroblastoma attacks the nervous system which subsequently leaves the child with no immune system. Nearly half of Neuroblastoma cases occur in children under two years old. Long-term survival for children at final stage Neuroblastoma, older than 18 months, is poor despite aggressive multimodal therapy (intensive chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy). Between 20% and 50% of high-risk cases do not respond adequately to induction high-dose chemotherapy and subsequently the child relapses. This means the cancer returns in a much more aggressive form where the only treatment available to a UK child is overseas, in Stacey’s case, the US. This treatment costs in excess of £500,000 with no UK protocol to administer this pioneering treatment locally.
