BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ Building Chooses Remeha Boilers

April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Remeha Quinta Pro (http://www.remeha.co.uk/product/quinta-pro-range) boilers have been chosen to provide energy-efficient space heating at one of the country’s most innovative and sustainable business centres, the multi award-winning building One Trinity Green (also known as ‘The Green Incubator’) in South Shields, South Tyneside.

This state-of-the-art £5m development, which has achieved BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and an Energy Performance Certificate of ‘A’, was built on a brownfield site for South Tyneside Council to provide flexible office space and business support for new companies in the low carbon and environmental sector. The sustainable design by +3 Architecture has resulted in a business centre that is green both inside and out with a low impact on the environment matched by low operating and management costs.

The 3000m2 development comprises 41 offices, studios, hybrid units and social circulation spaces over three floors. Providing energy-saving heating for the entire building are two Quinta Pro (http://www.remeha.co.uk/product/quinta-pro-range) 115 condensing boilers that were specified by M&E Consultant Jayne Bainbridge of RPS Group to contribute to the outstanding overall energy efficiency of the building.

“The reason we specified Remeha boilers was due to their low NOx emissions which ensured that we achieved maximum points for the Pol 4 credit in BREEAM,” commented Ms Bainbridge. “The low carbon emissions and high energy efficiency of the boilers assisted in the Part L compliance and the high EPC rating achieved by the building.”

The Remeha boilers are just one of an array of energy-saving, green technologies used at One Trinity Green that includes 450m2 of roof mounted photovoltaic panels that provide 20% of the building’s energy requirements, solar panels that contribute to hot water requirements, and a rainwater system and low flow sanitary fittings that help reduce water consumption.

One Trinity Green has won a number of prestigious industry awards for its sustainable design and construction. Accolades include the BREEAM National Award for the Best Scoring Office, The Legacy Award for Sustainability at the National Constructing Excellence Awards and Best Large Commercial Building at the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards 2013 Northern Region. The main contractor was Robertson North England and the M&E Contractor was Castles Building Services.
