A Redondo Beach Optometry Center Explains Why Contact Lenses are Beneficial

One benefit emphasizes in Hansen’s blog post is more accurate vision with contact lenses.  He explains, “With glasses, one of the common problems is that there is a distance between the eye and the lens itself. This sometimes leads to image distortions which can be quite unpleasant and in fact dangerous in traffic or under other similar circumstances where accuracy is important. Contact lenses wearers do not have that problem. The lenses are worn directly on the eyes. There is no distance between the eye and the lens, so no distortions can form.”  Image distortion can pose problems when driving or reading, so contact lenses are the perfect solution.

No fogging is another benefit of wearing contact lenses.  In certain weather conditions, eyeglasses can fog up and impair vision.  Hansen says, “This is particularly annoying, as you need to take them off every time and wipe them clear. Contact lenses do not fog, something you will really appreciate the next cold season.”  Not only are foggy glasses annoying, but they can be dangerous too.  When driving or walking on the street, it is crucial to have the best vision possible in order to avoid accidents.

Michael Hansen goes further into detail about contact lenses.  He says, “Eye comfort is particularly important to our well being, as we rely on our vision for most activities throughout the day. However, it is human nature to get used to things, whether good or bad, and therefore we often tend to overlook important aspects which bother us.”  Many of the benefits offered by wearing contact lenses may fix a problem that the patient might not know they have.
