LOS ANGELES, CA, March 3, 2014 – Beyond Capital Fund (“BCF”) is proud to announce that BCF has made capital investments in two additional social enterprises, Frontier Markets and ERC Eye Care Centre. Additionally BCF supported its existing portfolio companies with mentoring resources.

Frontier Markets (“FM”) plays a key role in bringing renewable energy products to peri-urban and rural bottom-of-the-pyramid households in India. As a result of this access, children can study at night, shops stay open longer and agricultural tasks are shortened, leading to increased farmer productivity and revenues.

FM has developed direct relationships with consumers, becoming their source for information and products. The company's business model identifies innovative products and vets them with target consumers. In many cases, FM is the only point of sale in villages, distributing products and building demand on the ground. FM also localizes the human capital chain; identifying village based staff, and training them as relationship managers on the ground.

In late 2013, BCF co-invested in FM's bridge financing round, and contributed pro bono legal support for the transaction in additon to ongoing mentoring for the company.

ERC EyeCare Centre (“ERC”) offers affordable, quality eye care in Assam, in NE India, via a hub & spoke model through vision centers, satellite clinics and a hub hospital. Understanding that 80% of blindness in India is avoidable and 20.5% of people in Assam experience extreme difficulty in seeing near and far, ERC has identified a market where the potential for social impact and financial sustainability go hand in hand.

By providing accessible (location and pricing) and quality eye care, ERC improves the lives of people who would not normally have this access. ERC provides consultations, diagnostic tests, pharmaceutical products, optical products, and surgical services to its patients. 80% of ERC's patients live at the bottom of the global economic pyramid, earning less than $1 per day, while the remainder take home between $2 and $5 per day.

Beyond Capital Fund co-invested in ERC's seed round along with several experienced Indian investor partners.
