By: Celebrations Originally trained in music, Frances Kornbluth found herself drawn to visual art as a form of self-expression. Today, this highly regarded abstract expressionist painter who has won many awards over her long career continues to show her work in galleries and museums throughout New England. “Nature and the environment are the subjects I explore in my art, and the use of various natural materials, has been an ongoing challenge. As the result of my declining vision, I now work mainly in black and white, making collages and using handmade paper. I work and exhibit in my studios in Connecticut and Monhegan Island, Maine.” Donna O’Scolaigh Lange is an oil painter known for graceful depictions of local scenery as well as vivid collages and whimsical illustrations. She states that the turning of the seasons from winter into spring is her excuse to kick up the color in her landscapes. “My current art projects reflect many influences--from working with my neighbor's farm animals, studying portraiture, and giving a collage workshop to groups of seventh graders. Out of all these different elements, I try to create a unified vision for each public showing of my work.” Ann Rosebrooks, who works primarily in acrylics, says, “This spring show is about beauty, rebirth, and renewed energy, all of which comes with the sunny days and growth of flowers and plants in spring. My artwork reflects my joy and love of life with wit, color and playfulness.” Join these three well-established artists from the Quiet Corner to welcome spring and enjoy an in-depth exploration of their latest work.
