Follow on Google News | Nonprofit Social Media Manager Guest Lectures at Cerritos College for StudentsRaquel Lizarraga the Social Media Manager of the nonprofit, ISLA (International Surf Lifesaving Association), was invited to speak for students at Cerritos College on December 13, 2013.
“New product development is the most interdisciplinary program in Technology Division. It provides an overview to the aspiring entrepreneurs, inventors and future engineering, project and product manager of what it takes to brings new product from concept to market. This unique certificate and AA program, the only one in the State of California, combines knowledge from several disciplines of industrial design, engineering design, manufacturing technologies, technology entrepreneurship and technology project management to the sufficient level to allow students to start their own business or to work as an project managers or engineering or design managers,” said Dr. Miodrag Micic, Department Chair of Engineering Design Technology and Instructor of New Products Development. Raquel discussed with students the importance of social media for business and strategies for successful implementation of new products, and her experiences building a social media presence for Cerritos College and ISLA. “The New Product Development program combines traditional and flipped class lessons with an intensive lectures from a guest speakers who are well established experts in their field. Learning about social networks and their applications for the successful product design and product launch was an essential. Our students were fortunate to hear firsthand from Raquel Lizarraga, social networking expert, on how to use this ever increasing in importance modern tool for product definition, product and brand promotion and placement,” said Dr. Miodrag Micic. ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The mission of Cerritos College New Product Development Department is to provide students with a theoretical, practical, hands-on, and research-based education in product/service development. The program teaches students the complete process of bringing a new product to the market. New Product Development is a combination of Cerritos College departments of Engineering Design Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Plastics/Composites, and Welding. New Product Development combines skills and knowledge from various fields to prepare students for and fiercely competitive and evolving business world.
