EMPOWER Student Information System Releases Continuing Education Feature

EMPOWER's web-based Continuing Education (CE) deploys course catalog searching, registration and payment for non-admitted students. Once a CE student has registered, they are managed in EMPOWER alongside all other students, utilizing standard EMPOWER functions such as class rosters, schedules, grading and more. Designed to address the management challenges of continuing and community education courses, workforce development and certificate programs, seminars, workshops to the general public, the CE feature can be implemented both as part of a more comprehensive EMPOWER deployment or as a standalone system.

An automated, intuitive and user-friendly interface allows prospective students to access courses online without a login requirement. Courses can be searched by location, category and complexity level and the information provided to students can include tuition, instructor, meeting days and times, course start dates, course materials, software used, pre-requisites or any other information about the course. Institutions can also add comprehensive text and image descriptions for courses and locations, as well as links to location maps, external web pages and more.

EMPOWER CE automates and simplifies the traditionally challenging process of registering and taking payment for continuing education classes. Through an online shopping cart, students simply select one or more courses from the catalog and pay their balance online. Payments are immediately posted and students' registration is then finalized in EMPOWER. Instututions can even create coupon codes, providing students with individual or group discounts.
