Brow lift to do or not to do, that is the question!

ATLANTA - Nov. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Facial cosmetic surgery often involves treatment of the brow region, called a brow lift.  A brow lift can give you results you didn't realize you could have. This area of rejuvenation has changed significantly over its original inception. Originally a full coronal flap was utilized to raise the brow leaving overly elevated brow positions, recessed hairline, scalp paresthesias and possible hair loss. Today most brow lifts are done with limited incision techniques and/or endoscopes. This decreases the complication rates and recovery time significantly. It is important to not overlift the brow making it look quite unnatural. Only the lateral brow region should be elevated.  This will give a refreshed look to the patient and is often done in conjunction with upper eyelid skin excision, also known as an upper blepharoplasty. The muscles of the mid forehead may be addressed with the endoscope to help glabella region rhytids during the procedure. I also use dissolvable screws that are made out of a suture material. No one wants to have to go back and have screws removed after surgery, and there are many other risks involved with removable screws. A browlift is a femanizing procedure and should be used with caution in male patients to provide only subtle changes. The risks for brow lift are low but include bruising, bleeding, swelling, hair damage, and nerve injury(sensory and motor).  Discuss with your surgeon to determine if a brow lift procedure is right for your facial rejuvenation.
