PRINCETON, N.J. - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Education leaders need to build support systems to create and sustain decision-making excellence according to a new white paper published by TregoED (http://tregoed.org/).  Decision-making excellence is often the key that differentiates an average district from an exemplary district.  Developing the skills and culture for such a district is no accident.  It is a comprehensive and intentional effort.   Superintendents, board members and school leaders can ensure that district and school decision-making hits the target every time by following simple strategies and the seven key tenets for both individual and organizational decision-making excellence.

Successful individual decision makers share similar abilities.  They must have developed competencies in the three I’s – Information, Involvement, and Implementation.  Being able to get information and determine what is important, involving others in a meaningful way and planning for and delivering successful implementation will result in decisions that align with the district mission, priorities and specifications.  Having excellent individual decision makers in your district, however, does not ensure that all organizational decisions will hit the mark.  To sustain decision making excellence throughout a school system, district executives must create a culture that aligns systems, structures and standard practices.
