Sara Castro Film, Halfway To Hell, Set To Screen At NYC Independent Film Festival

Actress And Film Also Screened This Week At Orlando Film Festival

NEW YORK - Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Halfway To Hell, the latest film starring rising star, Sara Castro, is set to screen Saturday at the NYC Independent Film Festival. The film, which features Castro and an outstanding ensemble cast, also just screened to enthusiastic audiences in two showings at the Orlando Film Festival today and yesterday.

Halfway to Hell is about a halfway house for recently released ex-cons that is trying to blend into a safe, middle class neighborhood that doesn’t want it. It is about the intersection of middle class values and the occupants of the house, which includes a child molester, a transvestite, a heroin addict, a prison lifer who prefers life on the inside and a killer. It is an edgy look at the idea of forgiveness and the realities of past actions. Castro plays the girlfriend of one of the housemembers, a role that draws viewers in and shows just how talented an actress she is.

“I am so excited that a New York audience gets to see the film,” Castro said. “Who doesn’t want to have a film screen in New York? We’ve now screened in L.A. at two different festivals, in Orlando and now this one. New York though is one of those places you use as a measuring stick in a way.”

Standing out amongst a cast as strong as this one is not easy to do, but Castro does it. Among the film’s stars are Tim deZarn who has appeared in over 100 film and TV programs including NYPD Blue and Cabin In The Woods, and Lombardo Boyar, another TV veteran who will also be featured in the upcoming feature, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Steven Bochco’s Murder in the First. Michael Emery, from One Life To Live, Monk, and All My Children also plays one of the key guests at the halfway house.

Sara Castro will also be seen soon on another major film project, one in which she co-stars with well-known film star, Danny Glover. In the feature film, The Shift, due out in early 2014, Castro plays a distraught mother trying desperately to help keep her daughter alive against terrible odds. She also has a leading role in the just released DVD, Baseball’s Last Hero: 21 Clemente Stories. So movie audiences and film lovers will be seeing a lot of her on screens in the coming months, and likely years, as it seems she is poised to take off on the path to movie stardom.

Halfway To Hell screens on Saturday, October 19th at 8:45 pm. at The Producer’s Club on West 44th. For more on the NYC Independent Film Festival go to www.nycindiefilmfest.com and for more on Halfway To Hell go to www.halfwaytohellmovie.com. For more on Sara Castro, go to www.saracastro.net.
