China to Invite Comments on Approval of New Additives in Food Packaging

SHANGHAI - Oct. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- In June 2013, SGS informed you that China approved 258 new additives for food contact containers and packaging materials (http://newsletter.sgs.com/eNewsletterPro/uploadedimages/000006/sgs-safeguards-11413-china-approves-258-new-additives-for-food-containers-and-packaging-materials-a4-en-13.pdf).

According to the requirements of the "Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China", its implementing rules, and in accordance with "Provisions of the administrative license management on new varieties of food-related products” and after an expert’s evaluation organized by the government, the NHFPC of the PRC released a notice on 3 July 2013 inviting comments on the approval of four new food contact additives, one resin and an expansion of the application of three existing additives for food contact containers and packaging materials (http://www.moh.gov.cn/sps/s3585/201307/44cb5406a5a94191a88345e221619557.shtml).  This public consultation exercise is open for comments until 9 August 2013.
