Why You Need to see this ‘Office Meets D&D'-Inspired Fantasy Web Series

Fan Expo entry shows geekery at its best: The Office meets Game of Thrones.

TORONTO - Aug. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Toronto, AB- It’s a proven fact that it is now a geek’s world and everyone is struggling to fit in. Shows like the humourous  Big Bang Theory and the action-packed Game of Thrones  prove that fantasy and science are now way cooler than they used to be. That’s why Spencer Estabrooks knows he has a big hit on his hands with his new web series One Hit Die.

Starring AMC’s Hell on Wheels'' Phil Burke, the first 4 episodes (prologue) of One Hit Die have just aired online; they combine the journey and adventure of a D & D game (à la Lord of the Rings) with the intimate aside interviews of the Office. Quick-paced and packed with humour, it will appeal to all walks of life, and of course, anyone who loves role-playing games.

“I have always loved both genres and I wanted to mix them in a different way. In One Hit Die our fantasy world is hermetically sealed, there are no real-life counterparts. The rules of the game that govern the characters are as real as the goblins they encounter,” says Estabrooks.

This Thursday Estabrooks is traveling to the Toronto where he will be screening the series as well as some exclusive non-web, behind the scenes videos at the Toronto Fan Expo: “I’m excited to meet some of the fans in person, we’ve had such a great response to our series.”

The project was funded by the Alberta Foundation of the Arts and now Estabrooks is trying to raise money to fund a full season. All the money raised will go directly into production.

One Hit Die is screening Friday August 23 at 6pm inRoom 713.
