The 2013 Ford Focus has Earned the Best Possible IIHS Safety Rating

The new Top Safety Pick+ rating includes the all-new small front overlap test. The small front overlap test is designed to test cars for how well they protect occupants in the case of a collision with a small stationary object like a pole or a tree. This test joins the front- and side-impact tests, a rollover safety test, and the seating and head restraint test. To achieve the Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle must score the best possible rating of “Good” in those four areas and at least the second highest rating of “Acceptable” in the small front overlap test.
