Local Personal Development Center helps Menlo Park to See The Value of Giving

MENLO PARK, Calif. - Aug. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- “Giving of your time, talents & personal treasures can be as valuable as giving money.  At times more so, because then you are really giving a piece of yourself.” -- Dr. Robyn Silverman – Kuk Sool Won’s’s Child Development Expert

August 2013 is Charity Month as part of Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park’s Powerful Words Character Development program! All students will be studying, developing and experiencing powerful life lessons focusing on understanding the value and benefit of participating in charity in a fun, powerful and effective manner.  In addition to all of the physical skills that they'll be working on this month, students will be discussing and practicing the following concepts both in and out of class:

•    Charity defined: What is charity? How can I share my treasures with others?

•    Talents: What are my talents and how can I use them to help others?

•    Time: How do I spend my time? How can I use my time to help others?

•    Commitment & Accountability: Can children make a difference? How can I?

“As it turns out; it feels good to give. Studies have shown that the same brain region that is activated when people win money is activated when they give to charity — there is a kind of “reward” built into the brain that motivates us to give. A cyclical effect begins; pro social giving makes us feel good, so we give more, and so on.  Starting this cycle early is key!” says Dr. Robyn Silverman Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park’s child & adolescent expert, and creator of the Powerful Words Character Development system used at the facility.

Kristin Quintana, Chief Instructor of  Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park says, "It’s quite important to me that we help our students to become the kind of people who are excited about helping others and doing it without expecting anything in return.  I can’t wait to help our students experience the joy of giving this month.   I enjoy seeing our community recognized as a place with Powerful Character, and seeing our students lead the way! As this community’s premier Powerful Personal Development Center, we take this responsibility very seriously. We’re thrilled to help our students and our community to thrive and succeed, and Charity month is going to help us to do just that.”

Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park’s strong curriculum and the Powerful Words Character Development system provide our students with the opportunities to become UNSTOPPABLE in life. These lessons will remain with our students for life and we're honored to help them achieve the success that they deserve” says Quintana.
