Follow on Google News | 2013 Blues in da Parish Festival set for October 5The 2nd Annual Blues in da Parish Festival will be held on October 5, 2013 at Docville Farm, 5124 E St Bernard Hwy in Violet, Louisiana.
http://www.youtube.com/ The music will begin at 11 AM with a performance from the local Chalmette High School Band. Next up will be the 2013-2014 VooDoo Blues Challenge winners in the Solo/Duo and Band categories. These talented performers, who will be selected in August and September 2013, will represent New Orleans at the 2014 International Blues Challenge in Nashville. At 1:30 PM Paula and the Pontiacs take the stage, followed by John Lisi and Delta Funk at 2:30. The Alabama Slim Blues Revue featuring Little Freddie King is up next at 3:30 PM, and the Coco Robicheaux Spirit Land Band Tribute will round out an afternoon of great music from 4:30 until 6. In addition to the music, the Festival will also include food booths showcasing local restaurants and CD booths offering great blues music. And festival attendees who prefer a hands-on music experience can enjoy a free Harmonica Workshop provided by the Crescent City Harmonica Club from 3 - 4:30 PM. The Audubon Zoo’s Wetlands Express Mobile van will also be on hand from 1 PM - 3 PM to provide information about the bayous and wetlands that surround the Festival's location in St Bernard Parish. Other fun family activities include a Boogie Booth Photo Booth, Kids' Coloring Contest, 50-50 Raffle and more.
