Austin Family Chiro staff to work with Springfield Foxes again in 2013, along with Orthopedic Doctor

VIRDEN, Ill. - July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Dr. Todd Austin and his wife Eugena Austin, both from Austin Family Chiropractic in Virden will be staying busy on the Foxes sideline again for their 3rd straight summer.  That's because they remain the official sideline Doctor of Chiropractic and Licensed Massage Therapist for the Springfield Foxes football team in 2013.  There is exciting news to report this year however, as two orthopedic doctors from S.I.U. School of Medicine in Springfield will be joining the Foxes sideline healthcare staff for the first time in 2013.  Dr. Saadiq El-Amin, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulders.  Dr. El-Amin brings a resume to the Foxes that includes previous work with the New York Knicks of the NBA.  His partner, Wendell Becton, M.D. is a non-surgical orthopedist who previously wrote the concussion guidelines that the St. Louis Cardinals MLB team still use to this day.    

The Foxes are currently in their 4th season as a franchise.  This season has brought about some changes.  There are a few new faces and some fresh talent on the team.  After getting a taste of an exciting new venue during the latter half of last season, the Foxes will be playing all home games this season at beautiful Sacred Heart Griffin Stadium in Springfield.  All Foxes home games will be at 7 P.M.  The Foxes were 11-2 last season and went on to win the Eastern Conference of the 18 team MidStates Football League.  The Foxes succumbed in the league championship game in October 2012 by a mere 5 points to the Racine Raiders by a 49 to 44 tally.  The Raiders are a team with a storied history which dates back 50 plus years.  The Foxes are already off to a quick start in 2013, as they are now 2-0.  As the Capital City's premier 11-man football team, the Foxes have 3 home games coming up in August 2013 (on the 3rd, 10th and 24th).  Two Girard residents made the team this season: #34 Gareth Jenkins & #64 Bradley Drew.

The team from Austin Family Chiropractic will be on the sidelines for all four home games as well as any possible playoff home games.   Dr. Austin has been a diehard football fan since he was a youngster.  Dr. Todd has been an Associate Member of the Professional Football Chiropractic Society since 2011.  The Foxes are actually a semi-professional team with the age of their players ranging from the late teens to the early forties.  

Dr. Todd will be performing chiropractic care (spine and extremity adjustments) as well as cold laser therapy to help reduce inflammation and improve range of motion quicker.  Dr. Todd states that "Last season I dealt mainly with Foxes players shoulder, low back, neck, calf, hamstring and quadriceps issues both on the sidelines and at Austin Family Chiropractic during the week".  Dr. Austin also performs advanced taping techniques including kinesiotaping and leukotaping for the players.  Eugena also kept busy during the 2012 season providing therapeutic massages primarily on shoulders, low backs, calves and hamstrings.  Since the team doesn't have an official athletic trainer (ATC), Dr. Todd and Eugena as well as Dr. El-Amin & Dr. Becton will all be performing taping, icing and helping players to stretch out.
