GREEN BAY, Wis. - July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Green Bay, WI — Music duo Sam Brooker and Ruby Amanfu will be playing the historic Meyer Theatre in Green Bay for a one-night-only reunion concert on September 12, 2013, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through ticketstaronline.com and cost $25. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jackie Nitschke Center, a local alcohol and drug abuse recovery center.

“We are thrilled that we can bring such high-caliber entertainment to benefit the Jackie Nitschke Center,” said Jim Rivett, president of Arketype, one of the event’s sponsors. “We are very proud of our Green Bay/Nashville connection.”

Although the duo first met in Nashville in 1999, Sam Brooker & Ruby Amanfu did not begin collaborating until years later. Since then, they have created a critically-acclaimed blend of pop, folk, and R&B. The pair’s first song “The Here and The Now” featured Amanfu’s lyrics and music by Brooker. Calling themselves Sam & Ruby, the pair toured extensively from 2006 to 2009, including performing at the Austin music festival South by Southwest (SXSW). In 2008, their song "Heaven's My Home" was featured in the film The Secret Life of Bees. Their album The Here and The Now received top honors by the Associated Press, which called it the Best Album of 2009. Brooker and Amanfu appeared as part of the Nashville-based group “The Collective” on the NBC singing competition The Sing Off. In 2012, their song “Ain’t Love Something” was featured in the Meryl Streep film Hope Springs.

Amanfu was born in Ghana but moved to Nashville with her family when she was three years old. Her songwriting has led to both a Grammy nomination as well as performing during the awards ceremony. Her vocal talents have led to working with some of the most famous musicians in the business. Most recently, Amanfu can be seen and heard performing with Jack White in his single “Love Interruption” from his first solo album, Blunderbuss.

Brooker, a native of Green Bay, is currently enjoying success as the owner of Nashville’s Artist Revolution, a publishing and artist development company. The firm represents up-and-coming music talent including Jesse Rice, writer of Florida Georgia Line's current record-breaking smash hit “Cruise.”

Sam & Ruby will be joined for the concert by special guest Isaac Hayden, also from Nashville.

“To have such big stars back together again to raise money for our center is truly a dream come true,” said William LaBine, executive director of the Jackie Nitschke Center.

“The Jackie Nitschke Center is blessed to have such a solid ally in Jim Rivett and the rest of the team at Arketype,” said Jackie Nitschke Center board member D.J. Long.

The Sam & Ruby reunion concert will benefit the Jackie Nitschke Center, a national leader in addiction recovery. The proceeds from the concert will help the center realize its mission to provide affordable quality alcohol and drug treatment in a home-like environment to improve the quality of life for adult clients and their families.
