ChallengerTEC and Signagelive launch interactive signage application for hospitality sector

Signagelive software used to manage interactive content overlaid onto live TV feeds to increase consumer spending

SAFFRON WALDEN, U.K. - June 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Signagelive, a global technology company that specialises in developing cloud-based digital signage applications, is pleased to announce that its core software is being used to power “iVUTV”, an interactive signage solution. It has been developed by ChallengerTEC  for the hospitality industry, to encourage punters to stay at premises longer to increase consumer spending.  The first company to benefit from this innovative solution is Camerons Brewery Chain.

Instead of running expensive TV advertising campaigns, “iVUTV” allows publicans to overlay targeted content in multi-zone formats onto live TV feeds - customers are encouraged to interact using their Smartphones or Tablets. They can participate in competitions, with results being displayed on screen in real time, or download complimentary food/ beverage vouchers that have to be used within stipulated time frames. They can even share their experience with friends using social media thus promoting further interaction from wider audiences.

The product has been developed as part of ChallengerTEC’s overall strategy for expansion and diversification. Until recently, the company specialised solely in providing content and associated on-screen and mobile web apps and games to large sports venues; this encourages fan interaction during live tournaments and events.

Signagelive was chosen as the preferred development partner because of its intuitive software, its reputation in the market and its ambitious long-term R&D plans. Its experience and expertise in cloud-based digital signage has given ChallengerTEC a competitive advantage by significantly reducing the company’s time to market.

“iVUTV”  is powered by Signagelive’s cloud-based software which is written in HTML5, the new standard for cross-platform online applications. It enables hoteliers/publicans/nightclub owners to intelligently display targeted promotions to specific audiences, depending on age, gender, time of day etc., in a multi-zone format on TV screens (irrespective of make and size) that are already installed onsite.

Brewery and hotel chains can run highly targeted campaigns based around major sports events such as Wimbledon and manage campaigns either locally or remotely via any device. Campaigns can also be configured to dynamically update, depending upon factors such as the time of day or TV programmes being shown. Its sophisticated reporting capabilities enable results to be monitored in real-time and campaigns can be quickly modified or removed if they are not working.

Signagelive’s software supports different content formats including rolling images, nested playlists, video streaming, third-party party websites and Media RSS feeds. It also includes a number of innovative features such as drag and drop functionality and QR code support.

Says Kevin McDaid, CEO of ChallengerTEC; “We selected Signagelive as a technology partner because of its highly regarded reputation in the market. Its expertise in digital signage and our ability to produce engaging content means that together we can make digital signage interactive. Their software allows us to easily promote our range of apps to consumers which in turn allows them to engage with TV content such as football matches or horse racing in real-time, which is a powerful proposition to brands”

Says Jason Cremins, CEO of Signagelive: “We are delighted to be involved in such an innovative project. No other company has the ability to offer interaction with TV shows using a Smartphone. Our management software allows large chains to run and manage campaigns on a national or a pan-European scale depending on size because it is all cloud-based.”

ChallengerTEC is planning to introduce “iVUTV” to other markets such as retail to enable well-known brands to engage with their customers. The company has also held initial discussions with a major mobile broadband supplier about Smartphone vouchering services for different online packages.
