Stuck up a mountain - don’t be stuck with anything but a Hymer!

MILTON KEYNES, U.K. - June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Hymer motorhomes are perfect for cruising on motorways either in the UK or abroad and despite their size, they are equally adept at handling the twists and turns of continental mountain roads.

The Smith family, from Banbury in Oxfordshire, (dad Andrew, mum Lucy and six-year-olds Lillian and Steven) can attest to that after an amazing experience while on their way home from a friend’s wedding in the Czech Republic.

They had hired a Hymer s555 in May 2013 and travelled by ferry through Belgium and across Germany and the Czech Republic for the wedding, before heading on to Austria and Italy on their way to Venice.

Andrew takes up the story. “We went across the Alps to stay at Grimsel Pass for the night which meant negotiating 17 kilometres of twisting road in a tunnel, which was very scary! We were in the tunnel for 40 minutes, with two lanes which were each about only 2.5-metres wide. For about eight miles, we never left second gear. Eventually, we came out on to a single-track road with snow about seven-feet high on either side of the road. Then, as we neared the top, we saw a sign which said ‘Road Closed”!

“So, we had to roll the Hymer all the way back down the hill and do a U-turn in the road so that we could get to the bottom. That could have been a problem but the Hymer has such a good turning circle and such a tight lock that I was able to turn it round perfectly.”

“I’m a pretty good driver, but that impressed me. The Hymer was nimble and quick for its size and very easy to get around in. I had driven caravans before but never a motorhome and this was very good indeed.”

The Smiths were also delighted with how much living space they found in their Hymer. “You aren’t going to live it up when you go away in a motor-home, but there was more than enough room for us to store all the things we needed,” said Andrew. “The beds were good, Lucy and I had a pull-down bed, while there was more than enough space for everyone to have a good shower.”

Hymers are famously reliable, but even when a small problem did strike, HireAHymer were quick to help out. “We had an electrical fuse go while we were in Germany,” said Andrew. “I called them in the UK and within two rings of the phone, they were answering and able to help us out. Peter was able to tell me where to find replacement fuses and how to fit them and everything.

“They were great before we left the UK, as well. Peter took the time to show us around the Hymer, talk us through where everything was and how everything worked and we never had a problem. We would 100% use the company again!”
