STERLING, Va. - May 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Sterling, Virginia – Patrice DeHaven, owner of Carried Away Gifts, walked away with Best of Show plus three other first place awards from the Elite Gift Basket Convention at Springfield Hilton on April 26-28. This year the Best of Show award category was “Design & Dash!!!”

The challenge: “Each participant will be provided the same products and must bring their own container, enhancements and tools to create their own design on site…You can include no more than three items of your own in the design…Each participant will be given 60 minutes on Friday to create their own design.”

What was the magic ingredient to DeHaven’s success? “Fun!” said DeHaven. “Summer fun is right around the corner, so I dreamed up ‘A Little Girl’s Summer.’ Item 1 –a bright green plastic children’s beach chair to be the ‘basket.’ Item 2 – a colorful teal-blue polka-dot beach towel. Item 3 – a clip to keep it pinned to the back of the chair. Like magic: 1 – 2 – 3.”

On Saturday, there was a red carpet area to display all the “Design & Dash!!!” gift basket entries for voting by peers and experts. When “A Little Girl’s Summer” won, it received a wave of applause.
