Salvatore’s Holds “The Right Stuff” Student Culinary Competition

Salvatore’s Restaurants Asks Culinary Students if They Have “The Right Stuff”

BOSTON - April 8, 2013 - PRLog -- WHAT:Join the next generation of star chefs from the Greater Boston area as Salvatore’s Restaurants host “The Right Stuff,” – a special 3-course dining experience on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 at 6:30PM at Salvatore’s Restaurant (Seaport Location: 225 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA) featuring the talent of tomorrow from local culinary schools.

The first in an upcoming series, “The Right Stuff” features two culinary students from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Boston, who have competed and won an internal competition at Le Cordon Bleu to make it to this final cook-off event.

On Sunday, April 28th, 2013 two battling students have been asked to create a 3-course meal that works within the conceptual framework of Salvatore’s Restaurants, yet at the same time, pushes those boundaries and expresses their own individual creativity.

“At the end of the day, this is good for both the students and for Salvatore’s Restaurants. For the winning student we’re going to give them $1,000.00 toward their tuition.

We’re also going to incorporate their dishes along with their name into our menu at all five of our restaurants. For us, I guess you could say it is reverse engineering. If the students bring an upscale French approach, well that obviously isn’t a good fit for us. That being said, if they work within the basic framework of what we do conceptually and they present something that challenges our perception of what we do and our customers and the judges love it, it’s a huge win for everyone,” said Sal Lupoli, Founder, CEO Lupoli Companies, Salvatore’s Restaurants and Sal’s Pizza.

The dinner is interactive and gives customers the opportunity to help decide who the winner will be. Each diner will be presented (2) dishes for each of the (3) presented courses and they will be asked to vote via ballot on which student makes the final cut. The customer vote will count towards 50% alongside a panel of celebrity and industry judges deciding the other 50% of the vote.

Scheduled judges for the evening are: Kara Baskin, Editor of Grub Street Boston, Kerry Byrne, Food Writer, Boston Herald, Cheryl Fenton, Freelance Food + Lifestyle Writer, Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Contributing Writer, Eater Boston, Rachel Cossar, Boston City Editor for The Daily Meal, Jenny Johnson, Co-Host of NECN’s “TV Diner,” Leah Mennies, Food Editor of Boston magazine and Sal Lupoli, Founder, CEO Lupoli Companies, Salvatore’s Restaurants and Sal’s Pizza.

Tickets are $45.00 per person(tax and gratuity not included), includes a 3-course meal and pre-event reception and can be purchased at http://therightstuff.eventbrite.com/ or by visiting your local Salvatore’s Restaurant. Seats are limited.
