Yard School of Art Spring and SummerART Registration is Now Open

MONTCLAIR, N.J. - March 12, 2013 - PRLog -- The Yard School of Art at the Montclair Art Museum was recently recognized in the Discover Jersey Arts People’s Choice Awards 2012 as the Favorite Place to Take a Kid’s and Adult Art Class in NJ. Register today for a class, workshop, or camp to find out why! Registration is now open for Spring classes and workshops and SummerART. Classes are offered for kids, teens, and adults in a variety of media, including in the Ceramics Studio, the only resource of its kind at a Museum in NJ, and the Digital Media Lab. One- or two-day workshops focus on honing a particular skill or provide introductory insight into a particular medium, while ten-week courses offer a wide scope of topics for all skill levels, from beginner to professional. SummmerART additionally offers an art camp for children (Ages 5–12). Spring classes begin April 8 and SummerART starts July 1. The Yard School of Art Spring 8-week semester includes favorites like Beginning Pottery, Teen Portfolio Preparation, and Art Safari (Ages 5–7) as well as new items like Digital Photography II, and the Art History Mini-Course “A Look Inside the Armory Show,” an in-depth examination of the current exhibition The New Spirit: American Art in the Armory Show, 1913. Offerings include media as diverse as comic book making, glass fusing, block printing, video game design, and more.

SummerART is a comprehensive summer program in the Yard School of Art including art camp for children (Ages 5–12) and studio classes and workshops for teens and adults. The eight-week SummerART camp is perfect for keeping children cool and creative during their summer break. Students in camp can choose between Studio Art Camp, SummerART at Van Vleck, Pottery Camp, and Digital Media Camp. In addition, SummerART is divided into four two-week sessions and offers four schedule options to provide extensive flexibility. Each session is themed and concludes with a student exhibit of the artwork done in the children’s camps and teen courses.
