Follow on Google News | ![]() Scotch Plains Resident Anita D. Crum Achieves Another Significant Milestone as ToastmasterToastmasters International recently announced that Scotch Plains, NJ resident, Anita D. Crum has achieved the Competent Leader award.
“Becoming a Competent Leader is a great achievement,” After completing the ten (10) Competent Leader projects, a Toastmasters member is entitled to the Competent Leader (CL) award, and may add the post-nominal CL to their name for Toastmasters purposes. After earning the CL award the Toastmaster can further refine and develop his leadership skills by working in the advanced leader program. Members working in this program are eligible for Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB) and Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) recognition. Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, for Toastmasters District 83, Cyndi Wilson, DTM, presented Anita with a special award to recognize the milestone. Ms. Crum joined Toastmasters in 2010 and belongs to Toastmaster Club of Union. “The TM experience focuses on developing speaking skills and a byproduct of that is the development of leadership skills and abilities. The importance of this skillset is the development of the whole person. As a result, it infuses confidence in leading which in turn satisfies objectives in our career and personal lives. It is transformative.” Crum’s leadership and communication achievements include, two terms as Vice President of Education, for Toastmasters Club of Union; mentor to several club members and a consistent program participant and club supporter. Anita holds a MBA/HRM degree, and for the past 10 years has been employed as Vice President of Human Resources at a New Jersey based non-profit organization. Crum’s leadership extends beyond Toastmasters Club of Union. Since 2001, she has been a member of a local Chapter of Society Human Resources Management (SHRM) and has served as its Vice President of Programs. And if that’s not enough, Anita is currently preparing for her second Triathlon. “Anita’s enthusiasm for Toastmasters Club of Union and Toastmasters International is contagious. No matter what is going on, Anita, always see the glass as half full, as opposed to half empty.
