March 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Alan Stott from Bucksburn, Aberdeen has raised £7772 for the charity Inspire, after scaling the mighty 13,671 foot high Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

Alan, 39, a Project Estimator for Veitchi Group, self financed the trip and has spent a year raising funds for Inspire through a variety of events, including his second sponsored firewalk on 5th November.

Alan explained: “This project is the accumulation of 13 months fundraising, training and preparation. I was inspired to do more for the charity after taking part in a sponsored firewalk in 2011 and Jebel Toubkal had been on my ‘to do’ list for some time, so I decided to combine both.”

Alan left Aberdeen for Marrakesh on December 28th spurring the more traditional Hogmanay celebrations to reach the highest point in the Atlas Mountains on December 31st.

Alan continued: “It was hard going at times as these mountains are arduous in winter, but knowing that the money raised was going to such a good cause was very motivating. I’d like to thank all my friends and family who supported me, including everyone who walked on fire as part of Team Toubkal in November.”
