May 9, 2013 - PRLog -- A fundraising dinner being held in celebration of Aberdeen FC’s glory in Gothenburg in 1983 at the Aberdeen Hilton Treetops Hotel on Saturday 11th May, is sure to be a night of food, entertainment and fun in the company of some of the Gothenburg Greats, all the while helping develop young, promising footballers, who may well make it into the first team in the future.

The sold out event, sponsored by Fyfe Moir & Associates and AVC Media, will raise funds for the supporters initiative, Stand Free Youth Development Fund. The fund supports Aberdeen FC’s Youth Academies, which sees the club work with 5 year-olds right through to the first team, to ensure that children with talent are not only discovered but also given the opportunity to be the best player they can be.

“We are delighted to be the main sponsor of the event, and look forward to welcoming some of the Gothenburg Greats to the Treetops, including Willie Miller and Neil Simpson,” says Alan Moir, Director of Fyfe Moir  & Associates. “We’ve been bowled over by the generosity of local businesses and club supporters that have taken tables or donated items for the auction and raffle, which includes signed Ronaldo and Messi shirts. Myself and my fellow director, Graham Fyfe, would like to pay tribute in particular to Willie Miller who has been fantastic in support of this event.”

The ethos behind the scheme is to assist professional football in Aberdeen in these extremely difficult financial times.

Graham states: “Without a good youth programme, talented kids will be lost to the senior game. At Fyfe Moir & Associates we believe in the scheme and think that AFC’s commitment to youth development is excellent. But in this tight economic environment, budgets are being slashed, and we want to raise as much as possible to assist as many young player's chance of achieving their goals as we can.”
