Follow on Google News | Gothenburg Anniversay Dinner Raises In Excess Of £37,000Supporter’s initiative exceeds expectations to raise funds for the Stand Free Youth Development Programme.
By: The Missing Sock Public Relations & Marketing They were joined by 8 of the ‘Gothenburg Greats’, who attended the dinner, sponsored by Fyfe Moir & Associates and AVC Media, as guests of honour, including former Dons and Scottish International footballer Neil Simpson. Neil, who himself journeyed from youth ranks to the first team and is now Head of AFC Youth Academy, said: “The funds raised at this dinner really will be put to good use towards the Youth Development Programme, which has already paid dividends in terms of youth getting into the first team. The money will be used where it is most needed, be it for equipment, sports science or physiotherapy cover – these all help enhance the Youth Development Programme. Alan Moir and Graeme Fyfe put in a tremendous amount of work to put this dinner on, and we are really grateful for their efforts. Given the difficult financial times Scottish football finds itself in, this £37,000 really could be the difference between success and failure.” As well as ticket sales, auction items such as a signed Messi shirt helped boost the fundraising effort, with Aberdeen FC fans digging deep to show their support. Alan Moir of sponsors Fyfe Moir & Associates is delighted to have raised so much money and commented: “Everyone was very generous on the night and really did show that when we are all working together we can achieve great things. Last year we were blown away to have raised £17,000 but to have raised £37,000 is an incredible achievement, and thank you to everyone for their support. It’s time to get planning next year’s event now!“ End
