Michelle Leonard Rejoins SCS Engineers

Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Long Beach, CA - SCS Engineers (SCS) is pleased to announce that Michelle Leonard has rejoined the firm’s Long Beach, California, office where she will serve as Vice President and Director of Sustainable Materials Management. She has nearly 30 years of experience in environmental consulting and project management, with expertise in solid waste management planning and facilities. Ten of those years were spent with SCS Engineers.

Ms. Leonard is an industry leader in the preparation of comprehensive solid waste management plans and zero waste strategic plans.  She has designed recycling and composting programs; conducted feasibility studies for transfer stations, material recovery facilities, and conversion technologies; and permitted landfills and other solid waste facilities.  Ms. Leonard has a strong working knowledge of solid waste management regulations and practices throughout North America, and has delivered numerous successful projects to city, county and State regulators.

Ms. Leonard earned a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.  She is the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) International Board Secretary; previously served as SWANA’s Technical Division Representative to the Executive Committee and Director of the Recycling and Special Waste Division; and is currently a Board Member of the Southern California Founding Chapter.  In addition she is a founding member of the Women’s Environmental Council.

Ms. Leonard's return to SCS underscores the company's commitment to supporting a sustainable approach to materials management, and the development of plans and programs for the reuse, recycling, composting, and beneficial uses from waste resources.  Michelle will work out of SCS's new Pasadena satellite office, and will support the materials management practice throughout the country.
