By: Truliant Truliant President and CEO Marc Schaefer will make introductory remarks on economic empowerment while Marjorie Rorie, director of community services, will discuss community service efforts to strengthen minority businesses using a unique curriculum developed by North Carolina REAL Enterprises, Inc. She will be joined by Lindsay Upson, a REAL student whose media company focusing on providing a broader image of the African-American community, Indigo Pride, was impacted by the entrepreneurship classes. The show will also feature Michelle Serrano-Mills, a REAL class instructor for Truliant. “REAL Entrepreneurship is a curriculum dedicated to increasing entrepreneurship and small business creation in North Carolina,” said Rorie. “We use the REAL curriculum to provide interactive, experiential entrepreneurship training that gives aspiring small-business owners and entrepreneurs a thorough education in financial and business literacy.” Triad Today, produced and hosted by columnist Jim Longworth, is a community-focused program designed to present information of interest to Triad viewers. It is produced weekly at the WXLV-TV/ WMYV-TV studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It airs every Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. on WXLV (ABC 45, Time Warner Cable channel 7) and repeats every Sunday at 11 a.m. on (My48, Time Warner Cable channel 15). In 2012, Truliant received a grant from the National Credit Union Foundation to implement the REAL Entrepreneurship training program in six locations where they operate Member Financial Centers. “Over fifty students graduated in four counties last year,” commented Rorie. Truliant will hold another 5-week class series on Tuesdays, March 26 to April 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Augsburg Center at 502 Broad Street in Winston-Salem.
