In 2012, Kalamazoo Community Church (http://www.kalamazoocommunitychurch.com/ “Last year was great! We had fun while raising the funds necessary to put an automated well and water distribution system in the heart of Uganda! People in that village will now have access to fresh, clean water!” As we accomplished this, however, it became obvious that there was a much greater need” said Dave Johnson, Senior Pastor of KCC. “There are many more villages--in Uganda, Kenya and elsewhere--that need clean water! In partnership with Operation Starfish, we will support the effort to dig 50 new wells in 50 villages in the next 5 years! It's a huge task, but one that is absolutely necessary! We don't only want an international impact, but also to make an impact on a local scale. Therefore, a portion of the overall funds raised this year will go toward a local partnership with Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. In this way, your registration fees and donations will make a positive impact across the world, and in our local community.” Kalamazoo Community Church will hold a shoe drive to distribute shoes to those in need. In 2012, over 1,400 pairs of shoes were collected, cleaned and donated. A shoe collection will start a few weeks before the Kalamazoo Mud Run through June 8. Kalamazoo Mud Run participants are encouraged to leave their muddy shoes to be cleaned and donated.
