b) a handwheel attached to one end of the worm shaft;

c) a gear box attached to the other end of the worm shaft, such that gear box has an input from one end of the worm shaft and output in three different ratios on three different gears through compound gears, said three different ratios being gear ratio for arc second as 1:60, gear ratio for arc minutes as 1:1, gear ratio for degrees gear as 1:0.083334;

d) a graduated scale placed above the worm wheel;

e) a fixed reference scale;

f) a turret for holding the graduated scale such that the turret is attached to the magnetic base/compass via a detachable adaptor;

g) a plug for holding the fixed reference scale;

h) a rotary scale with a pointer to show " degrees" reading having a magnetic base/compass to attach it on the worm wheel;

i) a spring loaded lever coupled to the worm wheel and capable of engaging and disengaging the worm shaft from the worm wheel;

j) a calibrated dial which is coupled to the gearbox and which is capable of displaying readings of "degrees", "arcminutes", "arcseconds" and parts thereof;

k) a bracket to mount a surveyor's telescope is attached to the worm wheel

l) a stand; and

m) a tilting base capable of being tilted at a required angle to measure a tilted angle;

wherein when the handwheel rotates, the worm shaft rotates, which in turn rotates the gears in the gearbox; and wherein when the worm shaft rotates, the worm wheel connected to the shaft rotates perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the worm shaft; and wherein said stand can be a Theodolite or camera stand for survey work or a suitable stand for mechanical readings in workshops/laboratories.
