Dec. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- A recent report, which included analysis of 145 UK hospital trusts, said when hospitals were too busy patient care suffered because systems started breaking down. The Dr. Foster Private research group commented that Hospitals are "full to bursting" in England, creating a potentially dangerous environment for patients.

In response to the report, Government Health Minister, Dr Dan Poulter promoted the move towards change in the NHS with budgets and money being held in the community and with community organisations for more patient centred preventative care

“We are disturbed by the report”, comments Tracey Bush, MD for Spiral Health CIC “But as a *Social Enterprise our whole focus is on the community we serve. We welcome the change as we can provide the care and support needed by patients who no longer need regular routine visits by a hospital doctor and in doing so, prevent unnecessary acute hospital admissions and increase earlier discharges”

Spiral Health CIC, which spun out from the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in April has only been established as a *social enterprise for six months providing Nurse led Rehabilitation and Therapy Services, but has notched up exceptional achievement putting them in the top four per cent of community interest companies in the country

“The proposals and Investment in community services “adds Tracey “will help to not only address hospital overcrowding and improve the effectiveness of Rehabilitation and Intermediate Care for older people, but will it will also help to give more time to overworked hospital nurses and staff to give the more ‘Compassionate and Patient Centred care’ that is being called for”

The Government, The Royal College of Physicians, The Patients Association and the NHS Confederation have all expressed concern over Hospital ‘overcrowding’ and recognised that an increased focus and investment in patient centred community services organisations such as Spiral Health CIC will help to address the situation within NHS hospitals across the Fylde and the rest of the UK

“By specialising and focusing services” concludes Tracey “we and our local partners are able to deliver quality care direct to the patient with better outcomes and shorter hospital stays. For Spiral Care CIC it means we can be innovative, flexible and more responsive to the needs of our patients in the local community”
