Mahender Singh Dhoni, on his responsibility

The records and fames maintained over the years at home as a teat team, has been smashed away by Cook and his boys. India has lost 6 in their last 7 test matches against England. The retirement of Dravid and Laxman affected Indian batting much, the budding test players like Kholi, Pujara have no idea to tackle these situations of this long format game, however they were roaring in shorter format of cricket game.

         Ashwin, doing a great job not as a bowler but with the bat, he had helped India to an extent. This India spinner who considered as an all-rounder had saved India from innings defeat. Dhoni, in the 3rd match presentation, had blamed his batsmen, that they had failed to put on a big total in their 1st innings, that too when playing in a flat track like Eden pitch 1st innings total was much more important as the ball will start turn on last two days and batsmen will have a tough time to bat out there.

         Dhoni said, "The batsmen will have to take up the responsibility. It was a very good wicket to bat on here. Of course their bowlers will send down a few good deliveries that we need to keep out, but most of us in the top seven will have to score at the same time. If you don't score runs in the first innings and the opponents score, you will find yourself under pressure,”

         On regarding Indian bowlers, he praised the spinners Ashwin and Ojha who bowled decently, maintained their line and length in a decent fashion. But the efforts shown by the fast bowlers were not up to the mark. They dint give up a supportive hand to the spinners, instead they allowed the batsmen to settle and get some easy runs.

         Dhoni said, "The spinners have done a good job, a bit more contribution from the fast bowlers would really help the side," he said. "Their (England's) spinners looked to bowl in one area, play with the patience of the batsman. If we can be a bit more patient and can bat for a few long sessions, their bowlers will get tired and there'll be more opportunity to score.”

         "Leading a side is all about leading when the team is not doing well. You try to gel the team together, back the youngsters, back the senior guys, and try to move in the right direction... The easiest thing for me to say right now is, 'I quit captaincy' and be a part of the side. But that's like running away from responsibility. Of course, there are others like the BCCI officials who will want to look into that but my responsibility is to get the team together and be prepared for the next Test match." Says Dhoni regarding his captaincy.
