"I went out and 'read' as many Alex Cross audio books as three libraries supplied, like “Four Blind Mice,” "Mary Mary," "Cross Country," "Double Cross," and of course "Cross."

Nov. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- This week The Wrighter reviewed the recently released and much anticipated action/crime movie, “Alex Cross,” directed by Rob Cohen, which was based upon the book, Cross, by commercial fiction crime writer, James Patterson.  The main character is played by media mogul, Tyler Perry.

“Alex Cross” is about  a Detroit homicide detective named Alex Cross, who feels pushed to abandon protocol and his own code of ethics as he decodes and mixes it up with a wildly skilled and acidly vindictive serial killer who finds euphoric pleasure in inflicting torture and pain.

“Now everyone knows that books are better than the movies, but five minutes into it I was so angry that the screenplay writers, Marc Moss and Kerry Williamson took so many liberties to change the core of the story that the Alex Cross legacy is FOREVER tarnished, making him look like a rogue cop,” the blog states.

The Alex Cross Franchise is not new.  Morgan Freeman previously played the Alex Cross character in Patterson’s book turned movies, “Kiss the Girls,” (1997); and “Along Came a Spider (2001).

The Wrighter isn’t the only critic reviewing “Alex Cross” as poorly executed work.  William Bibbiani of  Crave Online (http://www.craveonline.com/film/articles/198301-review-al...) stated, “Alex Cross has no idea that it’s a comedy, and that makes it hilarious. In ten years time, I honestly believe that this overly sincere, somewhat misogynistic and embarrassingly clichéd production will be celebrated throughout the entire country as midnight entertainment. Until such a time as it is officially codified as a camp classic, however, we have a movie that thoroughly tanks on its own merits, but could very well be the funniest film of the year. It’s so, so bad, that I totally recommend you see it.”
