National Commerce Olympiad 2012 Inaugurated

Oct. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- With the aim to help students in learning the art of applying theoretical concepts into real practices National Commerce Olympiad Foundation (NCOF) today launched the second National Commerce Olympiad for the year 2012 on Monday at the India Islamic Cultural Centre.  

Open for school students currently studying in classes 6th to class 12th are eligible to participate in NCOF. The Olympiad is expected to cater to large number of students helping them get exposed to the stiff competition that lies ahead in their career.

Hon’ble Minister of Law, Justice & Minority Affairs, Govt of India Sh. Salman Khurshid, while speaking at the inauguration ceremony, said “ The undergoing programs launched by this Foundation will benefit students to get knowledge about higher study in commerce.  This Foundation is supported by multiple verticals and pioneer industry in the field of education and their sponsorships has helped in encouraging this event to the level of excellence and achievements”.

Olympiad is being conducted for the development and growth of students, from middle level onwards. We expect that more than half a million students would participate in this mega event. This Olympiad comprises five subjects and will be conducted for the students of Over 25000 schools will be participating across 300 cities.

The Olympiad proposes to disburse scholarships and awards to meritorious Students, Teachers and Schools.  This competition not only tests academic excellence but also enhances analytical ability and develops competitive spirit among students. Students will learn the art of applying theoretical concepts into real practical problems. It provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the academic field and interact with the intellectuals.

“Commerce Olympiad has much to offer in education and is a good measure of how well a discipline is accepted and integrated into the curriculum. The Foundation has given a special consideration for the poor & EWS students studying in schools all over India and distributed 21000 complimentary cards to them for appearing in exam, free of cost’ said Mr S K Gupta, President, NCOF while speaking at the inaugural ceremony.

Students studying in 11th and 12th standard, can opt for 1 to 5 subjects for examination and students studying in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th standard can chose 1 to 3 subjects, i.e. English, Aptitude and Mathematics.

The Olympiad Examination will comprise of Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, English and Aptitude subjects and will be conducted for the students of class VI to XII. The Examination is scheduled to be held in two phases categorised on regional basis.  

We are planning to start national level Olympiad competition in English, Math, Aptitude, Economics, Commerce said Mr Somen Acharya, General Secretary NCOF.

The aim of the National Commerce Olympiad Foundation is to promote a career in Commerce for talented students and to stress the importance of Commerce in our current society. It also provides a great opportunity to compare educational methods and exchange experiences, this is useful information to improve education on a national level.

The first Olympiad NCOF 2011 was Inaugurated by Sh. Kapil Sibal, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of India. It had participation by 55000 students from 3000 schools and was in Manual/Offline mode. Prizes and scholarships for NCOF 2012 were distributed to students on 22nd June 2012 at Delhi.

More than 2 Lac students from across India are expected to participate in NCOF 2012.  

The
Olympiad will be conducted in two phases. While the 1st phase will be the online examination the second phase will see invitations being sent to the top 2% students from each category.

“We will soon be conducting Senior Commerce Olympiad & Psychometric Tests to judge students on the apt career for them. NCOF is also preparing to conduct the our Olympiad in other regional languages as well”.  

NCOF is the National Commerce Olympiad Foundation whose goal is to promote the advancement, discovery, learning ,and application of commerce. The society's spectrum of commerce including subjects like Accounting, Business studies, Mathematics and Economics. NCOF with the support of other entities, sponsors commerce awards and prizes that recognize outstanding achievements. The Olympiad is designed to encourage students to explore, discover, and learn more about commerce and to develop analytical and problem solving skills that will be essential to their future career.
