Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- An iPhone app for dog walkers, a food chain online game, an ambulance rescue simulation, and a social website for commuters were just some of the amazing ideas generated by the students of Dr Challoner’s Grammar School when they spent the day with experts from digital agency, Netcel, as part of BIMA D-Day.

This UK-wide initiative saw 1800 students work with 70 digital agencies on Wednesday 10 October 2012.  The young dot com entrepreneurs gained an insight into the UK’s thriving digital sector, worth £82 billion a year to the UK economy and employing over 2 million people.  Netcel, a leading UK digital agency based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, partnered with one of the UK's top grammar schools, Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

Tim Parfitt, CEO at Netcel, commented, "We were incredibly impressed by the enterprise, enthusiasm and knowledge demonstrated by the students of Dr Challoner’s Grammar School. Netcel’s staff thoroughly enjoyed sharing their digital knowledge and passion with the students and helping to inspire the next generation of digital professionals from within our local community.”

Judith Ryde, Head of ICT at Dr Challoner’s added, “BIMA D-Day has been a great success.  The chance to learn from and be motivated by Netcel’s digital consultants has been extremely valuable.  Our students have really enjoyed the day, developed new skills, and gained a valuable insight into a future career in digital.”

The work of the students has been submitted to the national BIMA D-Day digital competition for schools, with results announced later this year.

About BIMA D-Day
The annual BIMA D-Day is an initiative of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) which represents agencies, freelancers and supporting businesses across the UK's thriving digital economy. BIMA recognises that the digital industry has grown exceedingly fast but as a sector there is an increasing lack of talented people to employ. BIMA D-Day is an excellent vehicle to raise awareness in schools and nurture a new generation of digital professionals, whilst also helping to plug the skills-shortage gap.
