Halloween, Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Contest at the Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store

For its first October, the Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store announces a Halloween Party, a Pumpkin Contest for adults and children and Oktoberfest Specials. The first Halloween event is October 20th. Pumpkin submissions are due the 24th.

Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Pittsboro, NC - The Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store announced its 2012 Halloween events including a Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contest; and Oktoberfest Specials with new menu items, a harvest beer, and a list of seasonal cocktails and drinks.

The Halloween party will take place on Saturday October 20, 2012.
Starting at 8 pm in the spacious rear dining area of the Pittsboro Roadhouse, led by Guardians of Angels, a non-profit seeking to build an Animal Adoption Center in Chatham County, the Beatles tribute band, The BackBeat will play for the evening.

Admission is by donation before 9 pm, and after 9 pm, $30 for singles, $50 for any couples, and $10 for kids. Donation and ticket proceeds benefit the campaign to build an Animal Adoption Center. Prizes provided by Pittsboro businesses and artists will be raffled. The Pittsboro Roadhouse bartenders and wait staff will provide regular service. Cash bar and menu.

There are two entry categories and two levels in each category:

● Decorated Pumpkins by Children
● Decorated Pumpkins by Adults

● Carved Pumpkins by Children
● Carved Pumpkins by Adults

Prizes include Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store Gift Certificates, Gear and a Gift Basket. To participate, contestants fill out a form with a $5.00 entry fee and deliver their decorated pumpkin anytime through the 24th of October; and their carved pumpkin, only on the 24th of October.

Voting begins on October 24, 2012 and will conclude on October 31 with the Best of Show vote. The pumpkin that raises the most money for The Chatham Arts Council wins.

The Oktoberfest specials include:

Roadhouse Pretzels served with Harvest Ale Cheese Sauce
Grilled Bratwurst with warm Kim Chee on a Hoagie Roll and House Chips
Grilled Beef Shoulder Tenderloin with Spiced Beer Beurre Blanc made from Harvest Time Ale, served with Vegetable and Starch of the Day

The Roadhouse Oktoberfest beer is the Harvest Time Ale, made by Raleigh's Big Boss Brewing Company with Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cardamon and Anise and brewed with real Pumpkin.

The Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store http://pittsbororoadhouse.com/ opened its doors on August 17, 2012, two months ago, at 39 West Street, the space formerly known as the General Store Cafe. The Pittsboro Roadhouse renovated the space outside and in, with a new sound system, and a hand carved skyline of Pittsboro lighting up the background of the front dining area. They also have a General Store featuring a number of local artists and crafts people, as well as flavored oils, infused salts and sugars, herbal teas and custom coffees.

The Pittsboro Roadhouse opens at 11 am Monday through Saturday and serves, lunch and dinner, drinks, coffees and desserts. Live music from local musicians and bands takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with no cover.

Live Music Hours and Days:
Thursdays: 6:30- 8:30.
Fridays and Saturdays: 7:30 - 9:30.

The restaurant closes at 9 pm Monday - Thursday and 10 pm Friday and Saturday.

The Pittsboro Roadhouse will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 22, 2012.
