Pittsboro Roadhouse Hosts Heirloom Tomato Dinner August 20, 2013

The Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store is holding its first Heirloom Tomato Jubilee Dinner with six varieties of Deep Chatham Gardens' heirloom tomatoes. This prix fixe dinner includes appetizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert.

PITTSBORO, N.C. - Aug. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Chatham County, NC - On August 20, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. the locally owned family restaurant, Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store, hosts a specialty dinner with all locally grown heirloom tomatoes from Deep Chatham Gardens.

Deep Chatham Gardens' Billy Mason, a gentleman farmer, raises a number of different heirloom tomatoes including some grown from Chinese seed ordered from China. Using organic methods, Deep Chatham Gardens (http://deepchathamgardens.com/heirloomtomatoesforsale/) provides fresh produce to several local restaurants, including Angelina's Kitchen and the Pittsboro Roadhouse.

Chef David Carlin of the Roadhouse (http://pittsbororoadhouse.com/deep-chatham-gardens-heirloom-tomato-jubilee-dinner-august-20-2013/) worked with Bill Mason to develop the menu based on the qualities and flavors of the different tomatoes. Billy Mason will be available to answer questions.

Roasted Tomato Gazpacho


Grilled Tomato Caprese Salad

Celebrity Dairy  Goat Cheese and Lemon Olive Oil


Tomato Vegetable Lasagna with Handmade Pasta


Sweet Tomato Ice Cream

Basil Cookie and  Chocolate Balsamic  Sauce


Includes Pepsi and other Sodas, Coffee or Tea

The Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store just celebrated their first anniversary on August 17, 2013. "Expect to see more specialty dinners at the Roadhouse this fall," owner Greg Lewis said. "We're looking forward to partnering with many local farmers and vineyards."
