Junior League of Raleigh to hold Judicial Panel and Reception

Seventeen judicial candidates to participate in event; WRAL’s Elizabeth Gardner to moderate
 
Oct. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Raleigh, N.C. - Seventeen judicial candidates in the November election will be part of the Junior League of Raleigh’s Judicial Panel and Reception from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 10 at the Center for Community Leadership.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include an opportunity for attendees to meet candidates, hear opinions during the panel discussion and participate in break-out groups. WRAL-TV’s Elizabeth Gardner, a meteorologist and Sustaining member of the Junior League of Raleigh, will moderate the panel.

Organized by the League’s Government Relations and Public Affairs (GRAPA) team, the event is designed to engage more people in the political process as well as educate League’s members about policy issues that are important to the League.

"The Junior League of Raleigh regularly offers meaningful programs, events and trainings, such as the Judicial Panel, to help create and shape leaders for our community,” said Pat Wilkins, President of the Junior League. "The League is dedicated to training volunteers who not only provide a strong boost to our local nonprofits but who also engage in our community as educated citizens."  

The following judicial candidates on the November ballot scheduled to attend are:

-Judge Monica M. Bousman (I), Wake County District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Bryan Collins, Candidate for Superior Court Judge, District 10E
-Chris Dillon, Candidate for North Carolina Court of Appeals
-Judge Sam J. Ervin IV, Candidate for North Carolina Supreme Court
-Charles Phillips Gilliam, Candidate for District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Judge Erin Mulligan Graber (I), Wake County District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Judge Jennifer M. Green (I), Wake County District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Judge Abe Jones (I), Superior Court, District 10E
-Judge Jennifer Knox (I), Wake County District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Judge Marty McGee, Candidate for North Carolina Court of Appeals
-Dan Nagle, Candidate for District Court Judge, 10th Judicial District
-Justice Paul M. Newby (I), North Carolina Supreme Court
-David S. Robinson, Candidate, North Carolina Court of Appeals

The event will be held at the League’s headquarters, the Center for Community Leadership at 711 Hillsborough St. in downtown Raleigh. The CCL is an affordable training and meeting space available to nonprofit organizations, businesses and community partners to receive training, problem solve and spark change.
